Currently, Scania's power generation engines are constantly breaking through the "forbidden zones" of the world's infrastructure projects - the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau and the Xianggang Mountains. They have been continuously and stably providing continuous power for the century project of the Sichuan-Tibet Railway and the Rongchang Expressway, and have verified their reliable performance in extreme environments with outstanding performance.
Unafraid of extreme environmental challenges - able to adapt to extreme conditions such as high altitudes, high temperatures, geothermal heat, high ground stress and harmful gases, ensuring stable operation under these demanding circumstances and providing stable and reliable electricity. 


Quick deployment and easy maintenance - The modular design of the power generation engine units enables rapid deployment and easy maintenance, providing great convenience for emergency power demands and power adjustments during later operations. 


Operational economy - The Scania DC series generator engines have a fuel consumption as low as 183g/kWh. The concept of "operation as maintenance" is implemented throughout the product design, manufacturing, and operation processes. The operation and maintenance cycle is no less than 500 hours, and the engine overhaul cycle is not less than 20,000 hours.

Lion Peak Tunnel Project 
——The Guardian of Light in High-Altitude Tunnels 
Shenzhiping Tunnel is located in the Aba Tibetan and Qiang Autonomous Prefecture of Sichuan Province, China. It is a key control project of Rongchang Expressway and holds significant strategic importance. The tunnel is 13.15 kilometers long and has an altitude of 2,900 meters. It is an important corridor for the mainland to penetrate into the Tibetan-inhabited areas and also a major expressway channel for Sichuan to connect with Tibet, Qinghai and Xinjiang. 




Scania equipped this project with four sets of 1800kW/10kV Scania modular units. These units, with their versatility, excellent performance and outstanding fuel economy, provided stable and reliable power support for the tunnel. 

Due to the need to consider the maximum power requirements for various extreme conditions such as traffic accidents, smoke exhaust, drainage, ventilation, and lighting simultaneously in the tunnel operation, the engine set operates in a low-load state (below 30% load) for 99% of the time. The modular unit can adjust the number of modules put into operation according to the actual load situation on site, and automatically distribute the load. This fundamentally solves the problem of long-term low-load or no-load operation of large units.

The Sichuan-Tibet Railway is a major national strategic project of China, aiming to promote the development and improvement of people's livelihood in Tibet. It holds significant and far-reaching importance for the long-term stability of the country and the economic and social development of Tibet. This railway is also one of the most challenging railway construction projects in human history to date. 

Scania has equipped this project with over 200 Scania power generation engine units, including 18 sets of 1200kW/10.5kV Scania modular units.
